Norton to Hold Community Conversation in Ward 5, Monday
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will hold a Norton in Your Neighborhood in Ward 5 with the Bates Area Civic Association at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church (1615 3rd Street NW – corner of Q and 3rd Streets NW), on Monday, May 5, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Norton will brief residents on congressional issues affecting them, including the D.C. Council lawsuit on budget autonomy, positive progress on budget autonomy in Congress, recent developments on changes to the D.C. Height Act, and an upcoming congressional hearing on D.C.'s local marijuana decriminalization bill. Above all, Norton seeks feedback from her constituents at Norton in Your Neighborhood sessions.
"There have been many recent developments in Congress with a direct impact on our city, and there is no better way to update D.C. residents on these issues and to get their feedback than in person, with our community conversations." said Norton. "Even though this Congress, led by the Republican House, is on pace to be the least productive in history, there are promising developments that directly affect D.C. residents."
The Congresswoman encourages all D.C. community and civic organizations, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, and other groups to sponsor a Norton in Your Neighborhood. For more information, visit https://norton.house.gov or call Norton's district office at (202) 408-9041.
