Norton to Hold Community Conversation with Pleasant Plains Civic Association Near Banneker, Saturday

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will hold a Norton in Your Neighborhood community meeting with the Pleasant Plains Civic Association at the Banneker Recreation Center (2500 Georgia Ave. NW) on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from noon to 2:00 p.m. Norton will brief residents on congressional issues and initiatives affecting them, including progress protecting D.C.'s budget autonomy referendum, the local marijuana decriminalization law and senior citizen services, and news on new jobs coming from Norton economic development bills. Above all, Norton seeks feedback from her constituents at Norton in Your Neighborhood sessions.

"There have been many recent developments in Congress that directly affect our city, and there is no better way to update D.C. residents on these issues and get their feedback than in person, with our community conversations." said Norton. "I am particularly pleased to go back to the neighborhood where I grew up, near Banneker, which I attended when it was a junior high school."

The Congresswoman encourages all D.C. community and civic organizations, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, and other groups to sponsor a Norton in Your Neighborhood. For more information, visit https://norton.house.gov or call Norton's district office at (202) 408-9041.
