Norton to Hold Press Availability Following Markup of Post-20-Week D.C. Abortion Ban Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will meet with reporters today, Wednesday, July 18, 2012, outside 2141 Rayburn House Office Building following the markup of H.R. 3803, a bill banning all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy in the District of Columbia. The markup is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in 2141 Rayburn House Office Building, and H.R. 3803 is the third and final bill on the agenda.
In May, Norton's request to testify at the Subcommittee on the Constitution's hearing on the bill was denied by the bill's sponsor and chairman, Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ). She is not a member of the Judiciary Committee, and although no witnesses testify at markups, Norton submitted a statement for the record.
