WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will honor Kojo Nnamdi with recognition in the Congressional Record and at the "Kojo Nnamdi 20 Year Celebration" tonight at the Howard Theater at 7:30 p.m.

Kojo Nnamdi will be celebrating 20 years as one of D.C.'s most prominent broadcasters, hosting The Kojo Nnamdi Show every weekday at noon on WAMU. Tonight's event will feature performances from artists such as the go-go band Trouble Funk, dance troupe Culture Shock DC, and the world-famous Ballou Marching Band accompanied by food from the region.

"No other local radio program brings the depth, sensitivity and familiarity with the important issues of the Washington, D.C. region better than The Kojo Nnamdi Show," Norton said. "The show has been at the center of critical conversations about society, community, race, housing, education, politics, the arts and more for two decades. While divisiveness has become the talk show norm, Nnamdi takes the time to create thoughtful dialogue – engendering trust among guests and listeners alike. The Kojo Nnamdi Show has won numerous awards, including multiple Public Radio News Directors Incorporated and Associated Press honors, as well as the National Association of Black Broadcasters Salute to Excellence Award. Join us in recognizing Kojo Nnamdi and The Kojo Nnamdi Show for 20 years of dedicated work in the Washington, D.C. area."
