March 23, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC -- The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that the Congresswoman will celebrate Women's History Month by presenting Natalie Randolph, the nation's first woman varsity head football coach, and Lindsay Czarniak, an anchor and reporter for News4 Sports, with congressional awards at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, at Coolidge High School gymnasium, 6315 5th Street NW, with the student body in attendance. The main feature of the event will be a sit-down interview by Czarniak with Coach Randolph, a member of D.C. Divas, and a member of Coolidge's football team concerning Randolph's football and coaching career.
Norton said, "Coach Randolph and Lindsay Czarniak provide our city with unusual dual opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of women in the male-dominated sports world. These two women have become role models for girls and women in D.C. and around the country by demonstrating that nothing is beyond a woman's capability, and no field, sports or otherwise, is off limits to women."
