Norton to Host LGBTQ Community Meeting, Tuesday

July 8, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said today she looks forward to hosting a community meeting entitled "Violence Against Trans Residents Goes Against D.C. Values" tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9th at 6:00 p.m. at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street NW. The community discussion is prompted by a recent increase in attacks on transgender people, particularly against black trans women. This community meeting follows Norton's Fireside Chat with the LGBTQ community in June, moderated by award-winning producer Lauren Ober at the Red Bear Brewery.

Panelists at the event include Earline Budd of HIPS, Ruby Corado of Casa Ruby, Rodrigo Heing-Lehtinen of the National Center for Transgender Equality and Action Fund, and Lieutenant Bret Parson of Metro Police's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Unit. Representatives of Whitman-Walker Health Centers, the DC Center, Casa Ruby, and HIPS will also attend with more information.

Media attending may RSVP to jack.miller@mail.house.gov.
