WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced she will introduce a congressional resolution celebrating the Washington Capitals' victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights to clinch their first Stanley Cup in franchise history and to recognize the many accomplishments of their historic season. She will ask regional Members to become original cosponsors of the resolution. Norton also said she looked forward to cashing in on her friendly wager with Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV), who will wear a D.C. statehood shirt and present Norton with a gift basket of local Las Vegas goodies next week.

"Our Washington Capitals showed that anything is possible with a true team effort fueled by the passion of our fans," Norton said. "D.C. residents have been waiting for a championship in one of the big four professional sports for over 26 years, and Capitals fans for their entire 44-year history. A congressional resolution will enshrine this incredible season and the accomplishments of our players."
