Norton to Join D.C. Airport Food and Retail Workers and Ethiopian Community Leaders at a Rally for Pay and Benefits, Tonight

July 19, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will address Ronald Reagan National (DCA) and Dulles International Airport food and retail workers as they rally for better pay and improved benefits this evening, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., at the Reagan National Airport’s Terminal A Conference Room.

“I look forward to standing with the working men and women at D.C. airports, whose pay and benefits are well behind what workers receive at comparable airports across the country,” Norton said. “The shame is deepened because these airports are federally controlled, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has received a 50 percent increase in revenue from airport concessions over the last four years, and this region is among the most prosperous in the nation. I am particularly proud to stand with our Ethiopian community, who comprise more than half of all retail and food workers at D.C. airports. They have the right to demand a fair return for their labor.”
