October 16, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will attend President Obama’s speech on his administration’s education initiatives tomorrow, Monday, October 17, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School (800 Euclid St. NW).

“President Obama has chosen one of the District’s highest achieving schools for an important address to the nation on education,” Norton said. “I am pleased I have been able to work with the President to secure $40 million in last year’s omnibus for the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DCTAG), a record amount and a $10 million increase from the previous year. DCTAG, which provides D.C. students up to $10,000 annually toward the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public four-year colleges and universities, is a life-changing program that has helped thousands of D.C. residents fulfill their dreams of going to college, many from Banneker.”
