Norton to March in 43rd Annual Capital Pride Parade, Saturday

June 7, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will join the District of Columbia's LGBTQ community to march in the 43rd annual Capital Pride Parade on Saturday, June 9, 2018, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at 22nd St. and P St. NW. Norton, who has marched in the Pride Parade every year since coming to Congress, has successfully defeated attempts by Republicans to block a provision in D.C.'s anti-discrimination law, the Human Rights Act, that ensures LGBTQ students have equal access to school facilities and services in the District.

"Each year, we march to celebrate our LGBTQ community here in the District, but also to signal that our fight for full equality must continue," Norton said. "Particularly with the recent disappointing Masterpiece Cakeshop decision, I will march on Saturday with renewed determination to make 2018 a year of action for our LGBTQ community."
