Norton to Meet with CSX Officials on Derailment Hazards, Today
May 5, 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C.—After raising several questions on WAMU’s “The Kojo Nnamdi Show,” Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will meet with CSX officials today, May 5, 2016, at 4:30 p.m., in 2136 Rayburn House Office Building. Norton is particularly concerned about hazardous materials going through densely-populated areas in the District of Columbia and the region. Because “no train is derailment proof,” Norton said, she wants to discuss rerouting of flammable and toxic substances from populated neighborhoods and especially through a closed space like the CSX Virginia Avenue Tunnel, currently under construction.
