Norton to Participate in Dialogue on Equality and Civil Rights Hosted by Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, Saturday

May 15, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will participate in a dialogue on equality and civil rights hosted by the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington (GMCW) with other District of Columbia leaders on Saturday, May 16, at the Lincoln Theater (1215 U St. NW) at 5:15 p.m., following the matinee performance of GMCW's "Born This Way" concert.

"I am very appreciative of GMCW for hosting this important dialogue so we can dig deeply into questions about equality at time when our nation is dealing with profound civil rights issues, including LGBT rights, race and many others," Norton said. "In particular, I thank GMCW for using the power of music and art to unite multiple civil rights movements, and for using this platform to host this much-needed national dialogue on achieving lasting equality for all."

The "Born This Way" concert features the full chorus of 200 singers. The concert is built around songs and stories from civil and equal rights movements.
