Norton to Preside Over House Floor Today
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will preside over the House Floor, 2-4 p.m., when bills, including the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act to focus on specified science, technology, education, and mathematics (STEM) programs, as well as engineering, research, and training programs to make America more competitive.
As she continues to pursue the final vote on the House floor, Norton is using the other privileges she has won for residents of the District of Columbia. Not long after coming to the House, Norton wrote a memo to demonstrate that she should be permitted to vote in the Committee of the Whole, where much House business is heard and voted on, just as she votes in committees in the House.
