Norton to Receive ‘Champion for Children’ Award from Bright Beginnings, Tonight
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be honored by Bright Beginnings, an early childhood development center for homeless families in the District of Columbia, for her commitment to the health and welfare of homeless children and families tonight, April 30, 7:00 p.m., at the Bank of America Penthouse Suite (730 15th St. NW). Bright Beginnings' "Birth-to-Five" program serves 157 homeless youth every day, providing them with a safe environment to develop and learn.
"I am gratified to receive this recognition from Bright Beginnings, an essential organization in our city dedicated to serving our neediest children," Norton said. "Bright Beginnings gives hope to hundreds of homeless infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their families. A child's early education and nurturing must begin at this most important stage of development. I look forward to continuing to work with Bright Beginnings to improve the lives of children who desperately need our help."
