Norton to Receive Community Health Care Award at Unity Health Care's International Benefit Celebration

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will receive the Dr. Jesse B. Barber, Jr. Community Health Care Award at Unity Health Care's 2011 International Benefit Celebration tomorrow, December 2, 2011. United Health Care selected Norton to receive the award in recognition of her "lifetime of service, dedication and advocacy." The award is given to an individual whose personal efforts, leadership and commitment in the field of health care advocacy have demonstrably improved access to health care for medically underserved people, particularly the poor and homeless. Unity Health Care offers a wide range of health care and human services to homeless and medically underserved people in the District, providing care to more than 82,000 patients a year.
