Norton to Receive Distinguished Service Award Thursday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that she will be one of the recipients of the 2012 Distinguished Service to the Humanities Award, to be presented Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the offices of Hogan Lovells LLP (555 13th Street NW). The Humanities Council of Washington, DC will honor Norton for the contributions she has made as a member of Congress, tenured professor of law at Georgetown University, civil rights figure, and feminist leader. The council will also present Distinguished Service awards to Congressman John Lewis (D-GA) and the members of Sweet Honey in the Rock, the D.C.-based, Grammy-winning female a capella group.
