September 2, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will represent the Congressional Black Caucus and will offer remarks at a press conference focusing on the Black Lives Matter movement today, Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the National Press Club (529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor). Norton will join African American faith leaders and leaders from five African American Greek letter organizations at the press conference with the theme, "Liberty and Justice for All."

"We in Congress who work together as the Congressional Black Caucus to maximize our efforts are particularly grateful to our Black faith community and our Black Greek letter organizations for joining together in visible support of the Black Lives Matter movement," Norton said. "The Black Lives Matter movement began with young people, who have awakened the nation to the callous treatment of African Americans. This press conference will signal the nation that the Black Lives Matter movement is broad, wide, and determined."
