Norton to Serve as Grand Marshal at Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Today

January 15, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be the Grand Marshal at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade today, Monday, January 15, 2018, at noon. The parade will start at Martin Luther King Ave. & Good Hope Rd. SE. near the Anacostia Park entrance and continue along MLK Avenue to the Barry Farm Recreation & Aquatics Center (1230 Sumner Rd. SE).

"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent a lifetime marching for the equality of all Americans," Norton said. "He marched in 1965 for home rule for our city when we had no local government and no Member of Congress. As we march today, I have no doubt that Dr. King too would be marching to complete his historic march for D.C. equality by striving with us to make the District of Columbia the 51st state."
