WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak to young entrepreneurs and attendees at the 3rd annual BUILD Holiday Sales Bazaar tomorrow, December 7, 2011, at Eastern Market North Hall at 6:30 p.m. More than 50 high school students will be on hand to sell their products, with five percent of the proceeds going to a charity of their choice. The students operate small businesses and manage their cash flow while being supported by mentors in the private sector and area venture capitalists.

"D.C. students are showing considerable entrepreneurial skills in not only creating their own businesses, but in marketing their products during Christmas season at the BUILD Holiday Sales Bazaar. I will certainly be looking to buy Christmas gifts from these young entrepreneurs, who are starting young and are headed for college," Norton said.

BUILD is a four-year college access program that helps at-risk youth launch businesses. Over the past 11 years, every BUILD senior has been accepted to college. The program serves 160 students at Dunbar and Roosevelt senior high schools, and the Maya Angelou Public Charter School, Evans Campus.
