Norton to Speak at Capitol Hill Business Improvement District Annual Membership Breakfast, Today

February 24, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will give remarks at the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District's (BID) Annual Membership Breakfast at the Hill Center (921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE), 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

"I know firsthand the large difference Capitol Hill BID continues to make because Capitol Hill is my home community," Norton said. "It will, therefore, be with special pleasure to discuss how my work intersects with the work of the Capital Hill BID."

Norton was instrumental in securing the transfer of the land on which the Hill Center is located and in securing the tax credit that was used for rehabilitation of the building. In addition, following a Norton roundtable on Union Station at which the upkeep of Columbus Plaza was discussed, Norton worked with the National Park Service (NPS), which has jurisdiction over the Plaza, to connect them with Capitol Hill BID. The result was a planting and beautification of the Plaza. NPS is now working on a formal agreement in which Capitol Hill BID would provide clean-up services at Columbus Plaza. Norton will also discuss other work relating to the Capitol Hill community.
