Norton to Speak at Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, Tomorrow

WASHINGTON, D.C – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), chair of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, will speak at the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11th, at 9:15 a.m. as part of the group’s annual legislative conference.  The theme for this year is workforce development.  Norton will also discuss ways to pay for infrastructure investments, such as the Highway Trust Fund, and the future of transportation in major cities.

“Major transportation changes in this expanding industry require that Congress consider the future of employment in these industries,” Norton said.  “As chair of the subcommittee with direct responsibility for highways and transit, I look forward to a great discussion on ways Congress and local governments can work together.”
