Norton to Speak at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Events, This Weekend

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at three events this weekend.

Norton will offer remarks at the 32nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast, hosted by United People with Opportunities (UPO), tomorrow, Saturday, January 16, 2015, 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel (1000 H St. NW). The MLK Memorial Breakfast raises funds to provide college scholarships for deserving, financially challenged Washington, D.C. high school graduates.

Norton will serve as a guest preacher for a service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at 11:15 a.m., at Washington National Cathedral (3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW).

Norton will rally with local airline contract workers whose work has been downgraded to poverty wages and unworthy working conditions on Monday, January 18, 2015, at noon, at the FDR Loop beside the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial (1850 West Basin Drive).
