Norton to Speak at Giffords Courage Fellows Dinner, Friday

July 31, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at a welcoming ceremony for the 2019 Giffords Courage Fellows this Friday, August 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Giffords is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing gun violence and inspiring communities to increase gun safety. The Giffords Courage Fellow program gives high school and college students the opportunity to learn about activism and gives them resources and skills to improve gun safety laws where they live. Norton said she especially welcomes these fellows here in D.C., where gun violence is a special concern.

"The student-led effort to end gun violence has created a brand-new gun violence prevention movement across our nation," Norton said. "After defending D.C. gun laws from Republican attacks and working with Congress to pass stronger national gun laws this year, I am looking forward to speaking to these young people about gun safety initiatives and what the House has accomplished so far."
