Norton to Speak at Launch of DC Circulator National Mall Route, Friday

June 11, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at the launch ceremony of the brand new DC Circulator National Mall routetomorrow, Friday, June, 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Memorial (2 Lincoln Memorial Circle NW). The event is hosted by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and goDCgo. The service, which will run every ten minutes and begin operating on Sunday, June 14, 2015, will cost $1 to get on and off to go to neighboring Mall sites. The route is a loop that originates from Union Station, providing service to 15 stops along the National Mall, including the major memorials, the Tidal Basin, Smithsonian museums, and the U.S. Capitol.

"The new DC Circulator National Mall route gives residents and tourists unique public transit access to every major landmark on the National Mall," Norton said. "Because the Circulator originates at Union Station, I will be working to have tour buses wait at Union Station, where there is tour bus parking. We must do more to keep tour buses from crowding the Mall, marring the views, and polluting the air."
