Norton to Speak at Legislative Events for Iron Worker and International Painter Unions, Tonight
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) tonight will speak at two events in support of two organized labor unions that will be vital to the construction of the District of Columbia's new Frederick Douglass Bridge Memorial Bridge and the Arlington Memorial Bridge. As a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Norton has been a key member in getting funding for both bridges.
Norton will attend a legislative reception for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites (900 10th St. NW). Norton will then speak at the Iron Workers' annual legislative dinner at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Hilton (1919 Connecticut Ave NW).
"Our success with regional members to secure funding for a new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and rehabilitation of the Arlington Memorial Bridge means that our skilled laborers will get jobs rebuilding these vital gateways into the District," Norton said.
