Norton to Speak at Major 11th Street Bridge Announcement, Tuesday
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at a major campaign update for the 11th Street Bridge project this Tuesday, July 23rd at 9:30 a.m. Norton will join local leaders and the Building Bridges Across the River nonprofit to announce the update. The 11th Street Bridge Park will be the District's first elevated park and will be built on the previous 11th Street Bridge structure as a pedestrian park connecting the western Navy Yard and Capitol Hill neighborhoods with the eastern Anacostia and Congress Heights neighborhoods. Norton says she strongly supports the 11th Street Bridge project, which also reinforces her work revitalizing D.C. neighborhoods, such as the Wharf, the Capitol Riverfront, and NoMa.
"The 11th Street Bridge Park will be an exciting new space that reconnects east and west sides of the river and enhances my work to revitalize the waterfront," Norton said. "I want to congratulate Building Bridges Across the River's dedication to creating a community center that has ensured this elevated park will benefit all local residents as well as our economy."
