Norton to Speak at Press Conference with Sandy Hook Riders to Call on Congress to Pass Common-Sense Gun Legislation, Today

April 12, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at a Capitol Hill press conference with Team 26, a group of 26 cyclists inspired to action after the 2012 tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, today, Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at the House Triangle (SE corner of the U.S. Capitol). Team 26 is on a four-day, 400-mile bike ride from Newtown, CT to the District of Columbia, stopping in cities along the East Coast to honor all victims of gun violence and to call for reasonable action to reduce gun violence in America.

“Team 26, who is on their fourth Sandy Hook Ride on Washington, has shown what it means to never forget,” Norton said. “They challenge us to build on their tireless activism to honor the victims of gun violence at Sandy Hook and across the nation and press harder for common-sense gun legislation. The unprecedented Sandy Hook tragedy increases our resolve against Members trying to overturn the District of Columbia’s gun safety laws. Today, we will stand united against the gun lobby and send the message that the safety of our children is not up for debate.”
