Norton to Speak at Ribbon Cutting for Unity Health Care's Upper Cardozo Health Center

WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at the ribbon cutting for Unity Health Care's renovated Upper Cardozo Health Center (3020 14th Street, NW), tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. Unity received $12 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for renovations. "The Upper Cardozo Health Center's renovation is another example of the perfect marriage of stimulus funds to a great public need," Norton said. "The evidence of completed facilities here and nationwide is rolling in at such a fast clip that we can lay to rest the Republican mantra that the stimulus funds had no effect. At Cardozo, we see just one of the many projects that have produced the evidence of the over three million jobs the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has created or saved, according to the Congressional Budget Office."

Unity Health Care offers a wide range of health care and human services to homeless and medically underserved people in the District, regardless of their ability to pay, providing care to more than 82,000 patients a year. Norton partners with Unity Health Care at many of her community events to provide free HIV/AIDS testing to District residents. 3
