Norton to Speak at the Commencement Ceremonies of her D.C. Elementary and High School Alma Maters
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak tomorrow, Friday, June 14, 2013, at the commencement ceremonies of both her D.C. elementary school and high school alma maters. She will deliver a keynote address at the Bruce-Monroe Elementary School fifth grade graduation at 9:20 a.m., at 3560 Warder St. NW, and at the Dunbar High School commencement in Howard University's Crampton Auditorium at 10:45 a.m.
"It's always special to go home again – Bruce-Monroe and Dunbar both are schools that prepared me for life full of emotional and professional fulfillment," said Norton. "But, tomorrow I'm going to talk about their lives because I believe I know something of the great anticipation these students in particular feel."
On Monday, Norton's Service Academy College Fair and Sendoff, drew its largest crowd of residents ever. She applauded Dunbar students, counselors and parents, along with many others who attended, for their increased interest in taking advantage of a service academy education.
