Norton to Speak at the Washington Ethical Society, Sunday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak this Sunday at the Washington Ethical Society (WES) at Shepherd Park (7750 16th Street NW) at 11:45 a.m. Founded in 1944 by civil rights activists, WES is a diverse community with a wide variety of programs that support the common good in surrounding neighborhoods. Throughout their history, WES has campaigned against segregation and supported the diverse number of cultures and communities in D.C. Norton will speak from her background as a civil rights activist and attorney whose work in Congress has been consistent with the values of WES, including the expected House passage this year of her D.C. statehood bill.
