Norton to Speak on Opportunity Zones, Attend Underride Crash Test and DC Vote Happy Hour, Tomorrow
WASHINGTON, D.C – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at three events tomorrow, joining District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser at the Entertainment & Sports Arena to discuss Opportunity Zones, which Norton ensured would be available in D.C., speaking at an underride crash test demonstration, and attending a DC Vote Happy Hour as momentum builds for a House floor vote on Norton's D.C. statehood bill.
Norton worked to ensure that Opportunity Zones would be available in D.C. The program provides tax incentives for investment in low-income neighborhoods. Norton's work on Capitol Hill has been essential for revitalizing many D.C. neighborhoods, including the Wharf, the Capitol Riverfront, and Walter Reed.
Norton has also secured historic support for the statehood bill, which has a record 201 cosponsors in the House, a record 31 cosponsors in the Senate, and the strong endorsement of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
Media interested in attending can RSVP to jack.miller@mail.house.gov.
