July 15, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), a cosponsor of a new anti-gun trafficking bill, will appear at a press conference today at 12:00 p.m. at the House Triangle with Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Elijah Cummings (D-MD), and Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) to show that the bill introduced to abolish the District's gun laws would encourage trafficking by allowing D.C. residents to cross state lines to buy handguns. Federal law, to prevent trafficking, has long prohibited residents from crossing state lines to buy handguns.
