Norton to Unveil Design of Anacostia Riverwalk Trail Segment, Take Part in Press Conference Monday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will join D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and other District leaders to unveil the design of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens segment of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, and hold a press conference on Monday, October 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at River Terrace Park (Anacostia Avenue and Benning Road, NE.) The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens segment of the Riverwalk Trail in D.C., most of which Norton got funded through the Surface Transportation bill, will connect nearly 60 miles of bicycle and pedestrian trails between D.C. and Maryland.
"The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens segment of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail is part of 20 miles of connected bicycle and pedestrian trails designed to allow residents to bike or walk continuously through 16 waterfront neighborhoods, including major destinations such as Nationals Park, RFK Stadium and the National Arboretum," Norton said. "Twelve miles of the Riverwalk Trail are open now and used heavily. What a pleasure it is to see the Riverwalk Trail moving steadily towards completion."
