Norton to Visit World Central Kitchen’s #ChefsForFeds Resource Center, Today
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will visit World Central Kitchen's #ChefsForFeds Emergency Kitchen and Resource Center (701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) to meet with volunteers and speak with federal employees today, Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 12:45 p.m. World Central Kitchen is providing free meals and other resources to federal workers and their families during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
"José Andrés and World Central Kitchen have set up shop in areas suffering from emergencies, and right now there is an ongoing man-made emergency in the nation's capital," Norton said. "I represent 62,000 federal employees who live in the nation's capital, and many more work here. I am especially grateful to José for providing meals for federal employees who have no idea when their next paycheck will come. While we struggle to open the government, I am very grateful to José and the many World Central Kitchen volunteers for understanding that federal employees cannot afford to wait."
