Norton to Welcome New UDC Law Students at Capitol Hill Reception on Wednesday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a reception to welcome the new students from The University of the District of Columbia's David A. Clark School of Law on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the Rayburn Foyer at 5:00 p.m. The annual reception will include the entering law school class, UDC president Dr. Allen Sessoms, and School of Law Dean Katherine Broderick, as well as administration and faculty members.
"I am particularly pleased to welcome and honor our new crop of UDC law students at a reception on Capitol Hill, because they will be doing so much for our residents well before they graduate," Norton said. "Our UDC School of Law is not only a public law school, it is a public service law school. UDC law students, which are supervised by clinical law professors, are a legal lifeline to thousands of D.C. residents who could not otherwise afford expert legal representation. We are not alone in recognizing the outstanding work of our university's law school – U.S. News and World Report recently ranked the David A. Clarke School of Law in the top 10 accredited clinical law schools nationwide. These students will be both learning and applying the law throughout their law school career, to the great benefit of our residents."
