Norton Visits Walter Reed
February 20, 2007

Washington, DC--Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will visit Walter Reed Army Medical Center Wednesday, February 21 at 11:15 AM, beginning with a tour of Building 18 on Georgia Avenue at Butternut Street, NW. Norton will greet soldiers on the premises. She also will visit Mologne House.

Norton has been concerned about continuing care of servicepersons at Walter Reed since learning about some of the problems at hearings held by the Government Reform Committee on which she sits. She said the BRAC/base realignment proceedings focused on bricks and mortars rather than on the military men and women, some who apparently are poorly served after they are released from Walter Reed Hospital itself. During BRAC hearings, the Congresswoman noted that while the main hospital continues to offer state of the art care, it is the subsequent services they receive, complicated by military bureaucracy, that has been questioned.
