Norton Website a Clearinghouse for Updated Inaugural Information
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that her website, https://norton.house.gov, has been updated with newly released information about President Barack Obama's second inauguration on January 21, 2013, including social media links, vehicle restriction details, mass transit schedules, and information about access points to the parade route. Visitors to the website should click on "2013 Inauguration Information" under "How Can I Help You?"
Last week, Norton was briefed by the United States Secret Service and almost a dozen other federal and local law enforcement and domestic agencies planning for the inaugural ceremonies. She said she was pleased by the plans in place and said she would make her website one of the clearinghouses for inaugural information.
"My website has always been a one-stop resource for D.C. residents looking for assistance from my office. Now, we are a one-stop resource for residents as they make their plans for Inauguration Day," Norton said. "One visit to the ‘2013 Inauguration Information' section offers access to maps, Metro schedules, even the information from Twitter and Facebook they will need for the ceremonies on January 21. I am pleased to share this information compiled from the agencies I met with last week, which have crafted a professional plan that takes into account the concerns of residents, visitors and business owners, while effectively managing crowds, keeping the event secure, and keeping as much of the District open for business as possible."
