Norton's Facebook Journal from Denver Begins New Interaction with Residents

August 20, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C) today announced the creation of an Eleanor Holmes Norton Facebook page at www.facebook.com to allow back and forth interaction with her supporters and to allow them to speak their minds on a non-official website not constrained by House rules. She will write daily Journal Notes from the Democratic National Convention where she is scheduled to rally the convention on D.C. voting rights Wednesday evening, Aug. 27, the eve of Barack Obama's official nomination.

The Congresswoman said she was especially grateful to a group of D.C. bloggers who invited her to a Q&A session in June, where they questioned Norton and communicated her responses instantly to their readers. "I enjoyed my session with the D.C. bloggers," Norton said. "The closest I can come to being one of them is to establish my own Facebook page where I can invite supporters to have interaction with me and among themselves.

Norton travelled to Pittsburgh earlier this month as vice chair of the Democratic Platform Committee to help write the official vision of the 2008 Democratic Platform, including language supporting D.C. voting rights.
