Norton's Federal Law Enforcement Nominating Commission Accepting Applications for Director of Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA)

The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that the Congresswoman is requesting that individuals interested in applying for Director of Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) submit applications to the Congresswoman's Federal Law Enforcement Nominating Commission. Applications and the delivery address will be posted online at https://www.norton.house.gov/.

The director is responsible for executive level planning, policy, and execution of programs that provide post-incarceration supervision for individuals sentenced under the District of Columbia Code. Six field offices operate throughout the city, and the agency also manages a 100-bed Reentry and Sanctions Center that provides residential pre-treatment and sanctions programming for high-risk, substance abusing defendants and offenders. The director also reports to and testifies before Congress regularly on annual budget requests and the D.C. criminal justice system, and works in cooperation with related offices and programs in the District of Columbia.

CSOSA was founded in 1997 as part of the D.C. Revitalization Act, which restructured several D.C. criminal justice operations. The CSOSA director is an executive branch presidential appointment requiring Senate confirmation.

The 17-member Federal Law Enforcement Nominating Commission is chaired by Pauline Schneider, a former chair of the D.C. Bar and a partner with the law firm Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe. The commissioners are District residents distinguished as leaders in law, labor, business, and community service. Commissioners interview and vet candidates, and submit the best qualified names to Congresswoman Norton, to whom President Barack Obama has given senatorial courtesy to recommend candidates for nomination to the Senate by the President.
