Stars and Spectacular Dance Groups Take Center Stage on the Mall at Saturday’s National Dance Day
July 27, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today reminded residents that there is still time to learn the flash mob choreography for National Dance Day on Saturday, July 30, at the Sylvan Theater on the Nation Mall, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. So You Think You Can Dance celebrity judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, the Dizzy Feet Foundation, and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, in conjunction with Norton, have teamed up to hold this year's Dance Day in D.C. to promote physical activity and dance. Featured guests include: The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, tap dance sensation the Manzari Brothers, Olympic Gold Medalist Michelle Kwan, model and actress Chasity Saunders, radio personality Jeannie Jones, So You Think You Can Dance finalist Gev Manoukian, and dozens of area dance troupes.
"This initiative is not only for the sake of getting your groove on to a beat on National Dance Day," said Norton, "our moves are for a reason. We expect a Flash Mob on the Mall on Saturday to show the nation's capital that dancing is one of the best forms of exercise."
The high point will be D.C. and regional dance groups offering a variety of dancing, including salsa, ballet, hip hop, tango, and ballroom dancing. To learn the flash mob choreography for National Dance Day, visit: https://dance.blogs.fox.com/tag/national-dance-day/.
