Statement of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton on the Passing of D.C. Superior Court Judge Eugene N. Hamilton

November 21, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today released the following statement on D.C. Superior Court Judge Eugene N. Hamilton, the court's former chief judge who passed away over the weekend:

"The city, and especially its children, have lost in Judge Eugene Hamilton a man who devoted his life to this city, and he will be lovingly remembered for his work with our most vulnerable residents, particularly the city's children. It is not surprising that Judge Hamilton was still sitting as an active senior judge when he died. He drew his reputation not only from his distinguished professional service, but from his ubiquitous attention to the city's young people. Both as an active judge and as a citizen, Judge Hamilton lived a remarkable life of contributions to the District of Columbia and to the law."
