With November D.C. Statehood Referendum Approaching, Norton to Speak on House Floor on New Bipartisan Push for Statehood, This Evening

September 7, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will take to the House floor this evening at approximately 7:10 p.m. to praise new bipartisan support in the District of Columbia for the upcoming referendum in November for D.C. statehood.

“As we get closer to November’s vote on D.C. statehood, I want my colleagues in the House to be prepared to consider our petition to enter the union as the 51st state,” Norton said. “With Democratic and Republican residents coming together like never before to support statehood, the signal to Republicans here in the House is that they should do the same.”
