Reagan Washington National Airport Youth Art Walk Unveiling
January 25, 2023
I am pleased to join you for the unveiling of the Youth Art Walk at Reagan Washington National Airport.
The works displayed here are from talented young artists from across the D.C. area, representing their schools and their community. As a proponent of the arts, I am proud to see the District of Columbia represented by these talented young people in the airport.
In the past, Reagan Washington National Airport would host the ceremony to announce the winner of the congressional art competition for D.C. While the winner would go on to be displayed in the Capitol, the other entrants were displayed here at the airport.
I would like to congratulate the winners of the 2022 Capital City Links Poster Art Competition, Students from the Duke Ellington School for the Arts and the Whittle School and Studios, and thank the students of Jackson Reed Senior High School and former Art Director Mary Barnes and current art teacher at the school Kimberly King for these beautiful works of art. Finally, thank you to Reagan Washington National Airport for featuring student artists from D.C. schools.
Thank you all for attending this unveiling and for inviting me to speak today.
