Biden Grants Norton Opportunity to Recommend Candidates for U.S. Parole Commission Commissioners

October 28, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that President Biden has granted her the opportunity to recommend candidates for U.S. Parole Commission commissioners. Commissioners are appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. Norton will be accepting applications until 6:00 p.m. on November 11, 2021. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

"I am pleased President Biden has given me the opportunity to recommend candidates for U.S. Parole Commission commissioners," Norton said. "Given that the overwhelming majority of the Parole Commission's population consists of District of Columbia offenders and that the District has no senators to recommend commissioners, it's appropriate that D.C.'s only member of Congress has the chance to provide input. I look forward to speaking with qualified applicants to determine whom to recommend to the President."

Applications consist of a resume and letter of interest outlining the applicant's qualifications and the reason the applicant wants the position, and must be sent to DC00.nortonresume@mail.house.gov.
