WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), a senior member of the House Aviation Subcommittee, today released a letter she wrote to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Michael P. Huerta to arrange a meeting to discuss persistent helicopter noise throughout the day and night affecting Northwest and Northeast District of Columbia neighborhoods. Helicopter noise was brought to Norton’s attention by residents following a Norton community meeting in May on airplane noise in Ward 3.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—At a briefing of the National Capital Region House Delegation, called by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), ranking member of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) alerted the delegation to significant safety concerns at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) following its safety management inspection (SMI) of WMATA’s rail and bus transit systems.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced the Federal Employee Short-Term Disability Insurance Act of 2015 to help provide some financial relief at no cost to the federal government to federal employees who suffer a short-term injury, disability, become pregnant, or develop a pregnancy-related illness. If federal employees elect to purchase the short-term insurance, the disability insurance benefits would replace a portion of their lost income for up to one year.
