Norton Introduces Bill Requiring Helicopters to Fly at Maximum Permissible Altitude in D.C. Airspace

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), the co-chair of the Quiet Skies Caucus and a member of the Subcommittee on Aviation, today introduced a bill to require helicopters in District of Columbia airspace to fly at the maximum altitude permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with limited exceptions. The exceptions would include active law enforcement investigations, transporting the president and vice president, and safety.

Once sworn in, Reyes will be the first Hispanic woman and first openly LGBTQ person ever to serve on that court. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said today that she will work with her colleagues to ensure the disapproval resolutions of two pieces of local D.C. legislation that passed the House today do not pass the Senate. One disapproval resolution would overturn the local D.C. legislation allowing noncitizens to vote in local D.C. elections and the other would overturn D.C.’s revised criminal code. The Biden Administration has released a Statement of Administration Policy opposing the resolutions.
