WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today at the third Oversight and Government Reform Committee (OGR) hearing examining the Flint lead-in-water crisis got Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to admit that the Flint Water Task Force, which he created last October, has already settled the question of who was responsible for the Flint water crisis: the state of Michigan, through its Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), who, as with past U.S. Supreme Court nominees, will be looking into the background of Merrick Garland, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on behalf of the Congressional Black Caucus, said today that she, of course, remembers that Judge Garland wrote the controversial decision for the 2000 case Alexander v. Daley, in which D.C. residents sought voting rights in the House and Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today at the second Oversight and Government Reform Committee (OGR) hearing examining the Flint lead-in-water crisis said that local, state, and federal officials failed to act on early warning signs, not unlike what happened with the District of Columbia’s lead-in-water crisis during the early 2000s.

Councilmembers to House and Senate leaders supporting the special federal education funding for D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools included in the Scholarships for Opportunities and Results (SOAR) Act, which also includes a private school voucher program in D.C.
