WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) tried last night and today to eliminate anti-home-rule riders in the House fiscal year 2017 District of Columbia appropriations bill, which passed the House today with four anti-home-rule riders, but said she will continue the fight to remove all the riders from any final spending bill later this year.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said that the accusatory nature of today’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (OGR) hearing on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of personal email raised constitutional separation of powers issues, and she instead asked FBI Director James Comey how federal officials, including Members of Congress, handle personal email when classified matters are involved.
