WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said that President Obama today nominated Patrick Burke to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of Columbia. Burke, whom Norton recommended to the President, is currently an Assistant Chief in the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The bill would force the District of Columbia to direct its local funds away from the D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools toward vouchers for any student who chooses to attend private schools.
