WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today pressed upon her House colleagues the urgency of passing her bill, the RECOVER Act, to provide free lifetime identity theft coverage to current, former and prospective federal employees whose personal data were compromised by Office of Personnel Management (OPM) data breaches in light of yesterday’s announcement by OPM that 5.6 million fingerprints were compromised, more than five times the original 1.1 million estimate.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, who is still trying to increase the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) special capital improvement appropriation that has been cut by $25 million in the House for fiscal year 2016, released the following statement on the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) approval of WMATA’s Corrective Action Plan to address safety violations found earlier this year after FTA’s Safety Management Inspection (SMI).

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit decisions in 2011 and today upholding the constitutionality of almost all of D.C.’s major gun safety laws should put an end to congressional effort to repeal them. The appeals court has upheld the District’s registration requirements for all guns, its ban on assault weapons and its ban on large capacity magazines.
